The artist, J.H. Sava, grew up in Waterville Valley, N.H. and Newburyport, M.A. He attended Holderness School and St. Lawrence University both of which he ski raced for, and finished his undergrad at CU Boulder.
SAVAge Designs is a reflection of J.H.’s three passions: his family, skiing, and the arts.
J.H. is married to Sue Siebert Sava (Princeton ’92), who he met when they both taught skiing in Breckenridge in 1993. They have been married for 23 years and have two mischievous and talented children, both of whom are Big Mountain skiers. John currently competes for Team Breck’s Big Mountain team and Eva grew up competing for Breckenridge All Mountain Team. J.H. is in his 30th year coaching and instructing alpine, telemark, Big Mountain skiing at Breckenridge Ski Resort. He is proud of the time he has spent on the mountain and is affectionately known as “Old Man on the Mountain.” His employee number predates the era when Breckenridge began to use computers J.H.’s day job is teaching second graders who he affectionately calls “his Minions.” J.H. has a M.A. in Curriculum & Instruction from CU Denver.
J.H.’s passion for the visual arts began at a young age. He is proficient in charcoal, watercolor, clay, photography, and ink. The concept for SAVAge Designs blossomed organically when J.H.’s team saw that he had designed gloves for himself and for John. The team requested gloves designed by J.H., then others in Colorado saw the gloves and requested J.H. to design and produce them. By January of 2024, J.H. had designed gloves for folks in Montecito, Bozeman, NYC and other far-flung places – all through word of mouth.
The Sava family is grateful for your friendship and business.
